Your questions answered about eyebrow tattoos, their process, maintenance, and benefits in this comprehensive guide.
How long do Nano Brows last?
Hyper Realism brows typically last between 1.5 and 2.5 years. Factors like skin type (oily skin fades faster), sun exposure, active exfoliants, and metabolism influence retention.
Why is a touch-up required?
Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process. The initial session establishes shape and foundation, while the touch-up ensures optimal pigment saturation and long-term retention.
Are hyper realism Brows better for oily or combination skin than Microblading?
Yes. Excess sebum production in oily or combination skin causes microblading incisions to blur, bleed, or fade prematurely into a soft, solid wash. Digital nano brows deposit pigment via controlled, point-by-point gentle pulses, ensuring hair strokes stay crisp and defined even on oily skin and larger pores.
What is the difference between hyper realism Brows and Ombré Powder Brows?
Hyper realism brows create distinct, individual hair strokes that mimic real brow hair. Ombré powder brows use a shading technique to deliver a soft, powdered makeup finish that is lighter at the front and deeper toward the tail. At Cosmopolitan Brows, we also offer Combination Brows, blending realistic nano strokes with soft powder shading for added depth.
Do hair-stroke brow tattoos look fake or harsh?
When customized to your face using precise mapping and pigment undertone matching, hair-stroke tattoos look completely natural. The strokes soft-heal into the upper dermis, blending seamlessly with your existing natural brow hairs.
Can hyper realism Brows cover up old microblading or eyebrow tattoos?
No, in many cases. If the previous work has faded by at least 50–70% and the underlying skin tissue is healthy without dense scarring, hyper realism can successfully camouflage and refresh old work. If the previous tattoo is overly dark, saturated, or discolored, laser removal is usually recommended first.
Do brow tattoos ruin or stop natural eyebrow hair growth?
No. Cosmetic tattoo pigments are placed safely in the papillary layer of the dermis, well above the deeper hair follicle matrix. The procedure will not damage existing hair roots or prevent natural brow growth.
Are brow tattoos safe for sparse brows, alopecia, or mature skin?
Yes. Hyper realism brows are gentle on delicate, thinning, or mature skin because the single needle gently taps pigment into the skin without slicing or dragging. For clients experiencing alopecia or hair loss, hyper-realism techniques restore full shape, structure, and 3D realistic dimension.
Can you get a brow tattoo while pregnant or nursing?
No. Due to body hormone fluctuations, altered blood flow, and the need to protect both parent and child from potential infection risks or numbing agent absorption, cosmetic tattooing is not performed during pregnancy or nursing.
Can I wear makeup or exercise during the healing phase?
You can wear makeup on other areas of your face, but keep the brow zone completely free of makeup for 7 days to prevent bacterial infection. You may exercise, soak up the sweat around the brows and forehead area. avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, sauna's, hot climate vacations.
Will my brows look dark initially?
Freshly tattooed brows always appear 20–40% darker and bolder during the first 3 days before softening into their natural healed shade. Your artist at Cosmopolitan Brows maps every set according to your natural hair growth and facial symmetry to ensure they fit your facial structure seamlessly.
Why is a 6–8 week touch-up session necessary?
Permanent makeup is a two-step process. The initial session builds the foundational shape and structure, while the 6–8 week touch-up session allows your artist to fill gaps where pigment rejected during healing, adjust color undertones, and secure long-term color retention.
How do artists match pigment color to natural hair and skin undertones?
Cosmopolitan Brows uses premium, warm/cool balanced inorganic and hybrid pigments designed specifically for permanent makeup. Your artist analyzes your natural skin undertones (warm, cool, or neutral) and existing brow hair to formulate a custom pigment mix that heals without turning grey, blue, or red over time.
Why do old brow tattoos fade, blur, or turn discolored?
Older microblading or traditional brow tattoos were often placed too deep or formulated with heavy iron oxides that oxidized blue or red. Modern digital nano techniques place stable, high-purity pigments precisely in the upper dermal layer, ensuring a clean, predictable fade over 18 to 24 months.

Aftercare, Lifestyle, skin type will impact the longevity and vibrancy. Different Pigments offer choice of longevity of the Brow Tattoo. Some Artists may choose to utilize a different technique.
Microblading : Uses a manual tool with a blade-shaped tip containing multiple tiny needles. The Tool creates individual hair-like strokes by making cuts in the skin and depositing pigment.

Our needles are sealed and packaged and opened right before starting the procedure. They are strictly one time use and then safely discarded. Our trays, beds, and other instruments are sterilized before and after every procedure.
Why do some Brows colors look off?

Over time, our body metabolizes the pigments, causing the pigment to fade (Fading/Oxidation) As we age, our skin tone can change, which can affect how brow colors look on us. It's important to adjust your brow color accordingly (Skin Tone Changes). Lifestyle, Sun Exposure, chemical exfoliants, certain facial treatments, whitening products, Retinol type of products all contribute to longevity of the pigment.
